Started as a small business town, it became an important town in the Medieval India being at the crossroads of major towns of South India. gradually became a moving pawn which changed hands number of times and finally became a part of Mysore Kingdom. Lovely weather also made British setup their base in Bengaluru (Cantonment) to be separately administered by them while the Pete was administered by Mysore Kingdom. Same name - Same place - 2 cities - 2 different cultures.
